Commercial and listed building Renovations

Case Study - The Parish York

Ancient buildings in historic cities need special flair and imagination to bring them into the 21st century.

The Grade II listed building was originally St John’s Church and dates back to the 12th century. It was deconsecrated in 1938 and had various uses before finally closing in 2000. Conservation, restoration and conversion of the ancient church into a restaurant and bar while complying with listed building regulations presented a challenge.

Working with the client and architect, the entire project, valued at £1.7 million, was managed by Kent Building Developments. The converted building retains the building’s historic features which includes the church’s six massive iron bells and restored ceiling. At the same time The Parish provides top quality and stylish comfort, including a commercial kitchen and state of the art sound and light system.
